Why I created Rooted

For almost 30 years I've taught Pilates and movement. Breath has been with me for even longer.

And the thing I hear most, from women in all sorts of walks of life, is some version of this:

"I know I need to do something for myself. I just never get round to it."

Sound familiar?

Me too.

The gap I kept seeing

Most of us aren't falling apart. Life looks fine from the outside.

We're busy. We're capable. We're looking after everyone else. We're keeping all those plates spinning.

But somewhere along the way, we can stop checking in with ourselves.

The head gets louder. The body gets tighter. And the things that used to make us feel excited somehow become a little quieter.

I know this feeling because I've been there too.

And I started wondering: what if we didn't need another thing to add to an already busy life? What if we just needed a little space to come back to ourselves?

A one-off breathwork session can be amazing, but it's over just as you're beginning to understand what it can do.

And a three-month programme can feel like a big leap when you're still wondering whether breathwork is even "your thing".

I wanted something in between.

Long enough to actually experience a shift. Short enough to say yes to.

That's Rooted.

Why I really created it

I created Rooted because I know how easy it is to keep pushing through and telling yourself you'll make time for yourself later.

But "later" has a funny habit of never arriving.

I've experienced first-hand how breath can change the way you feel in your body, clear the noise in your head and reconnect you with a part of yourself you might have forgotten was there.

I wanted to create a space where you could experience that for yourself, without having to commit to a huge programme or already know anything about breathwork.

Just four weeks to pause, breathe, move, listen and see what happens when you give yourself a little more space.

What we actually do

Rooted is four weeks, live on Zoom, every Wednesday evening.

Each week has its own theme:

Week 1 · Just Breathe
We start simply. Learning to slow down, notice your breath and begin to pay attention to what's happening in your body.

Week 2 · What's Really Going On In There?
Getting curious about what your body and mind might be holding onto. No fixing. No overthinking it. Just noticing.

Week 3 · Shake It Off
This is where we turn up the music. Movement, breath and a proper breath journey to help you let go of some of what you've been carrying. This one's a little louder. Bring your dancing feet.

Week 4 · Space To Listen
We slow things down again. A little more stillness. A little more space. And time to listen to what you actually need next.

Every session is 75 minutes of breath, movement, music and stillness, with plenty of laughter along the way.

You don't need to have anything figured out. Just come curious.

Why a small group?

Because breathing together is different.

There's something about a small group of women all showing up for themselves at the same time.

You're not doing it on your own, but you're not lost in a crowd either.

And I keep the group small because I want to actually get to know you. To know who's in the room, what you're bringing with you and how you're feeling as the weeks unfold.

This isn't about disappearing into the background and ticking another Zoom session off your list.

It's about giving yourself an hour where you get to be there for you.

And no, you don't need any experience.

If you can breathe, you can do this.

Who it's for

Rooted might be for you if:

  • your mind won't switch off, especially at night

  • you've been meaning to "do something for yourself" for months

  • you're curious about breathwork but don't know where to start

  • you feel like you've been running on autopilot

  • you'd love a weekly hour that's completely yours

  • you want to feel more connected to yourself, not just better at keeping everything going

And perhaps most importantly, if there's a little part of you thinking:

"I just want to feel like me again."

That's a pretty good place to start.

What I hope you take away

More than anything, I want you to leave these four weeks feeling more connected to yourself.

Not with another list of things you should be doing.

Not feeling like you've become a completely different person.

Just a little more space in your head. A little more ease in your body. A little more clarity about what you need.

And hopefully, a reminder of what it feels like to feel really alive.

Come and join me
